Thalassemia

A serious hereditary blood condition called thalassaemia damages the body’s capacity to make healthy red blood cells. Alpha (α) and beta (β) thalassaemia are the two primary forms, and they range in severity from minor to significant. Patients with severe conditions like transfusion-dependent thalassaemia (TDT) need frequent blood transfusions in order to survive. Children with thalassaemia major may not live into infancy if they do not receive the right care. Through community support, awareness-raising initiatives, and life-saving treatments, our NGO is committed to helping these people.
